Video surveillance and privacy, done properly.

I help companies, property managers and associations in Switzerland plan and operate cameras so that they comply with data protection law and are properly documented, and implement the Data Protection Act pragmatically. Clear, independent and built for everyday use.

Confidential

What you share with me stays with me. References only with your consent, and your documents stay in Switzerland.

Independent

Manufacturer-neutral and committed to you alone: my advice is guided solely by your business, and you are the only one who pays me.

Pragmatic

You get concrete measures, prioritised, clearly worded and achievable with reasonable effort.

Personal

From the first conversation to implementation, you always deal with the same person: me.

Three services, one goal: data protection you can prove.

Clearly scoped, at a fixed price, with a result you can hold in your hands: report, documents, evidence.

Camera review and camera planning

Before you buy cameras: together we define what should be monitored and where the boundaries lie, I plan positions and coverage and recommend suitable devices, independent of any manufacturer. For existing systems I review coverage, signage, retention and access. You receive a report with photos and clear adjustments, plus the template for the notice sign and the information text for tenants or visitors. On request as a technical expert report for lawyers, property managers or authorities, with the coverage area drawn on the official cadastral map.

Data protection review (FADP)

A status review for your business: which data do you process, what does the revised Swiss Data Protection Act require, where is action needed? You receive a clear report with prioritised measures that everyone in the business understands. Including Microsoft 365 and cloud services: who has access, what is shared externally, where the data is stored. Together with your IT partner, without my needing access to your system.

About me

“Data protection has to work in the business, not just on paper.”

I am Gabriel Henry, a privacy consultant based in Aargau. My path led from technology, through hands-on work in an industrial company, to data protection. I know the daily reality from a management role: customer data, personnel files, Microsoft 365, IT providers, cameras on the building. All things that run alongside daily business and still have to be right.

I have seen security incidents up close and helped clean them up. The decisive question in that moment is “Which data is affected?”, and whoever can answer it immediately is in control. That is where I take my clients: they know what they have, where it is and who has access to it.

I know data protection from both sides: as the person responsible for implementing the law in a business without bringing daily operations to a halt, and as a data subject who has filed access requests and knows what a good answer looks like.

With cameras, I am particular. A camera that sees exactly what it is allowed to see creates security and keeps good relations with neighbours, tenants and passers-by. That is why I plan position, angle and lens so that the coverage is right. Physically, verifiably, for years to come.

Being in good standing means this to me: when a customer, an employee or an authority asks, you have an answer that holds, documents that prove it, and a good night’s sleep.

My work starts before the problem and extends to a technical expert report: the system and the coverage area with photos, angles and a drawing on the official cadastral map (in Aargau: AGIS). Should a dispute go to court, your legal counsel has everything cleanly documented in hand. For litigation and legal opinions I am happy to work with your law firm or a specialised lawyer.

Frequently asked questions

Short answers. Everything else we clarify in the initial consultation.

Does an SME need a data protection advisor at all?

The Data Protection Act applies to anyone processing personal data, which is practically every business and every association. If you manage customer data, personnel files or member data, you should know the obligations and meet them day to day. Engaging an advisor is voluntary for private companies, which is exactly why it shows you take it seriously. In-house or with a review by me: you decide.

What does it cost?

All services have a fixed price you know before we start: camera review from CHF 950, camera planning from CHF 1,200, data protection review from CHF 1,900, data protection essentials from CHF 1,200, both together CHF 2,800. Annual check after 12 months CHF 450, technical expert report by quote. The “from” prices apply to businesses with up to 20 employees and systems with up to 8 cameras at one site. Travel within the cantons of Aargau, Lucerne, Solothurn, Zug and Zurich is included; elsewhere in Switzerland a travel flat rate of CHF 150 applies. Larger businesses receive a quote after the initial consultation. A fixed price, known in advance, reliable.

How long does a data protection review take?

Depending on the size of the business, one to three weeks from analysis to report. Your own effort: a conversation of about two hours and providing the documents.

May I operate a camera at my entrance?

Usually yes, provided the camera only covers your own premises, recording is visibly announced, retention is short and only authorised people have access. Your picture ends at your property line; public ground and neighbouring properties stay out of it. That is achieved physically: with the right position, the right angle and the right lens, permanently and verifiably. That is exactly what I check in a camera review, on site.

Does the GDPR apply to me as well?

If you have customers in the EU or monitor their behaviour, the European GDPR may apply in addition to the Swiss Data Protection Act. In the data protection review I clarify whether that is the case for you and what it means in practice.

What happens to my documents?

They stay in Switzerland on encrypted systems and are deleted once the engagement is complete, unless you wish otherwise. I name references solely with your consent and always without details.
